The LGBTQIA movement in Germany still faces significant challenges, despite progress in recent years. While same-sex marriage has been legal since 2017, there is still discrimination and violence against LGBTQIA individuals, particularly transgender and non-binary people. Hate crimes and discrimination in employment and housing are still prevalent, and there is a lack of comprehensive sex education and support for LGBTQIA youth. Additionally, there are ongoing debates about the rights of intersex individuals and the recognition of non-binary gender identities.
